Engineering & Compliance
Engineering is not a special order at Cool Sheds. It is a core part of what we offer. Every structure we sell can be backed by the documentation, compliance standards, and stamped plans that residential, commercial, and government projects require.
Coastal Wind Compliance
Our structures are designed and documented for the wind speed requirements of South Carolina’s coastal and inland counties. Appropriate for projects in Wind Exposure Categories B, C, and D.
D2 Seismic Compliance
South Carolina falls within Seismic Design Category D2 in parts of the Lowcountry — a requirement that most dealers do not address. Our engineered structures are built to meet these standards where required.
Stamped Plans Available
Engineer-stamped plan sets are available for projects where your county, municipality, or institution requires them for permit submission.
Permit-Ready Documentation
We provide the building specifications, load tables, and compliance documentation needed to satisfy building department requirements — reducing back-and-forth at the permit counter.
Engineered Building Systems
Our portfolio includes fully engineered building systems — structures designed from the ground up for strength, durability, and code compliance across a range of uses and occupancy types.
Site-Specific Engineering Options
For projects with unique site conditions, special occupancy requirements, or custom dimensions, site-specific engineering reviews and documentation are available on request.
What This Means for Your Project
Most storage building dealers sell products. We sell solutions. The difference becomes clear the moment a customer needs a building that has to pass a county inspection, satisfy an HOA architectural review, meet state purchasing requirements, or comply with local wind and seismic standards.
South Carolina’s coastal geography creates real engineering requirements. Charleston County and the surrounding Lowcountry counties fall within significant wind speed zones — and portions of the region carry seismic design requirements stemming from the area’s documented earthquake history. A structure that meets these standards is a meaningfully different product from one that does not, and the documentation supporting that compliance is what separates a permitted installation from a problem.
We are not engineers, and we do not act as one. What we do is work with engineering resources and building systems that are already designed, tested, and documented to meet these requirements — so that when you need a stamped plan set, a load table, or a compliance letter, we can provide it rather than starting from scratch.
If your project requires documentation we do not currently have on file, we will tell you that directly and help you identify what the right path forward looks like. We would rather give you an accurate answer than a fast one.
